What Xikar says about the Stratosphere II High Altitude Lighter:

The 2nd iteration of the Xikar Stratosphere II Torch Lighter is here! The Stratosphere II is water-resistant, highly wind resistant, and high-altitude lighter designed to be not only dependable as well as incredibly durable. This slim and functional torch is styled with an “X design” across the body for a great grip and fashionable look. The lid has been updated with an easy open spring assist that reveals the single jet torch flame when opened. The easy push ignition is easily operated using the thumb. There is a centrally located fuel level window that can be seen on either side of the torch. Flame adjustment is a snap with the easy twist adjustment wheel located at the base of the lighter. Lastly, an integrated lanyard loop that is molded into the body and comes with a signature Xikar lanyard.

Our Thoughts on the Xikar Stratosphere II Torch Lighter:

Ok, so I like this lighter and I don’t like it all at the same time. First I want to go over what I like.  The spring top is great for opening it up as well as keeping it closed. I like that the fuel window is visible on both sides of the lighter. The butane tank is big enough and of course, it’s a Xikar!

What I don’t like about this torch is the feel. The description says it’s rubber, but feels like cheap hard plastic. I get that it’s a Xikar lighter, but for about $30 I was expecting something more than plastic. The “lanyard” is nothing special and still not sure why anyone would ever need it. It’s nothing more than a Xikar branded shoelace. The adjustment wheel is small and for my big meaty fingers was a little annoying to use.

Maybe I’m just being a little picky, but for the price, I don’t think it was worth it. I do think it looks pretty cool and does work well enough, but for me it just costs too much. Lastly, it is available in clear, transparent blue, and solid black.

Please be aware that butane torch lighters will ship without any fuel due to shipping regulations. Our recommendation is that you use high-quality butane that has been refined at least 3x. Check out our post on Butane For Torch Lighters for some quality fuel recommendations. We’ve also written a post on why butane quality matters that covers some pretty basic information on butane quality.
