A torch lighter that doesn’t work, especially when it’s new, just sucks. That’s why having a lighter with a warranty can be really important. For those of you out there who have a Vector lighter, you’re going to be covered. Using the Vector lighter warranty is fairly easy and doesn’t all that long. So, let’s just jump right into it!
What Is Vector’s Lighter Warranty
Every Vector lighter has the “famous” no-proof warranty. What that means, is that you won’t be asked or required to show proof of purchase to get warranty service on any Vector lighters. The whole process is basically hassle-free.
According to the Vector website, Vector is the only lighter company with in-house technicians performing maintenance and repairs at their own service center.
What’s Covered Under The Vector No Proof Warranty?
Vector will service lighters no matter why your lighter isn’t working. So even if it’s been dropped a million times, left in a drawer for years, or if gets gunked up from low-quality butane. Essentially, if the moving parts are intact Vector will service the lighter.
The team at vector says even if your lighter has two parts missing they will service it without a problem as long as all the parts are inside the lighter. So, don’t send a lighter or lighters that are in multiple pieces
What Will Void The Vector Lighter Warranty?
The Vector website says specifically “Mutilated lighters (missing more than 2 broken pieces) automatically void warranty.”
I can only assume this means if you have taken apart or tampered with your lighter and lost or destroyed some of the really small parts you won’t be able to get service. On the other hand, if the torch has been slammed on the ground or tossed out of a car you won’t be getting it serviced either.
What About Discontinued Vector Lighters?
The Duke, Mega Pump, and Thump Lighters will no longer get service under the warranty.
How Long To Does It Take To Get My Vector Torch Lighter Serviced?
This is where it gets a little confusing. The Vector KGM site says in one spot that the turnaround time is one to two weeks. Another spot says the turnaround time for warranty repair is two to three weeks.
In my personal experience, it took just over four weeks for shipping, and the repairs to be done and returned. To be on the safe side, plan on about four weeks to have your lighter repaired by Vector and then returned.
How To Use The Vector Lighter Warranty Start To Finish
Before you go through the trouble of sending your lighter to Vector, they suggest that you first check out their troubleshooting section.
We have also put together a comprehensive troubleshooting guide together you can check out for those of you who’ve got a lighter that isn’t working properly.
Assuming you can’t fix your lighter yourself, just follow the simple steps and Vector will take care of the rest.
Pack Your Lighter
Vector suggests using a padded envelope for single lighters and for multiple lighters, wrapping them individually in bubble wrap. You don’t have to use bubble wrap, but please use something to protect the lighters.
Do not pack your lighters in the original packing when you send them in for service. The original packaging won’t be sent back with your lighter. The lighters will be repackaged when returned.
Add Contact Info
In addition to your lighter or lighters, make sure you send your contact info.
A piece of paper with your first and last name, return address, email address, as well as a phone number, is what Vector says they need. It should go without saying if the info is not legible, it’s going to take longer to get your lights back. I typed out my info in a basic word doc, printed it out, and dropped it in with my torch when I sent it out.
Add Return Shipping Fee
You will need to send a payment for the return shipping along with your lighter and contact information.
For 1 to 3 Vector lighters is $12 for the United States return shipping, $17 for Canadian return shipping, and $20 for international return shipping.
To pay with money orders or checks, make them payable to:
Vector-KGM Industries Co., INC
If you want to pay by credit card, send your credit card number, expiration date, security code, and full billing address.
Venmo is also an option to send a payment for return shipping. Their Venmo e-mail is join@vectorkgm.com
*If you have more than three lighters that need to be serviced check the warranty return fee breakdown at the Vector-KGM website for total costs.*
Ship It To Vector
Get insurance and tracking on your package when sending your lighter. This way you won’t have anything to worry about and can track when your lighter arrives.
I don’t remember exactly what the insurance and tracking cost for my lighter, but it wasn’t much extra money.
On the shipping label, use the following address;
VECTOR-KGM INDUSTRIES, CO., INC.
6016 TRIANGLE DR.
COMMERCE, CA.
90040, USA
Wait For Your Lighter
Vector sends out an email once the service is complete and is on its way back to you. As I already mentioned from start to finish my lighter took just over 4 weeks to go and come back.
Will I Be Able To Check The Status Of My Lighter?
YES! At https://vectorkgm.com/official/repair-status/ , you can fill out a simple form to get an updated status on your lighter!
My Overall Experience Using The Vector Lighter Warranty
Using the vector warranty is fairly simple and the work was perfect! My only piece of advice is to follow the directions exactly as on the Vector site. This way you won’t have anything to worry about.
